Many of us consume Diet Soda in replace of normal soda with the assumption that it is the “healthier” choice. I must admit that it does contain less sugars but where it lacks in sugars it makes up with harmful if not deadly chemicals that have been proven to have adverse effects on the body.

So are you still keen on drinking Diet Soda ? Well let me tell you a bit more about this deadly drink and Why You Should Stop Drinking Diet Soda. The consumption of Diet Soda can cause Obesity yes I said it OBESITY. Contrary to what many may think Diet Soda does not help you to lose weight it does the total opposite. According to an article from Healthy Living , the artificial sweeteners which are used in the diet sodas can interrupt the way in which the body naturally regulates its caloric intake. I know what you’re thinking, this still isn’t a valid reason as to Why You Should Stop Drinking Diet Soda.

Well I’ll share a bit more, the main reason Why You Should Stop Drinking Diet Soda is because it is very harmful to your Kidneys.An article in “Healthy Living” depicted some of the results of a 11 year Harvard study which showed that the intake of Diet Cola was linked to a decline in Kidney functions. Since there was no sugars present in the drinks scientists made the assumption that the decline in Kidney functions had to be as a result of the artificial sweeteners.

Is this enough reason as to why you should stop drinking diet soda ? I surely think it is but just to put a little icing on the cake I’ll share a bit more. Diet Sodas contain two chemicals known as sodium benzoate or potassium benzoate. These chemicals are known cancer causing agents because they damage the DNA within the cell and can cause senescence of the cells there by promoting cancer formations.

My advice to you is to drink more water and less juices and soda and if you were to drink juice it should be your own home-made juice using real fruits and vegetables.
