How to extract subtitles from .mkv files

This guide explains how to extract subtitles (.srt files) from .mkv files.

1. Download and install MKVToolNix
2. Download and extract MKVExtractGUI-2
3. Locate the ‘MKVToolnix’ installation folder (usually C:\Program Files\MKVToolNix).
4. Copy ‘MKVExtractGUI2.exe’ into the ‘MKVToolNix’ installation folder.

5. Open ‘MKVExtractGUI2.exe’.

6. Select ‘Input File’.
7. Select ‘Output Dir” (by default the output directory is same directory as the ‘Input File’).
8. Select the subtitle Track # (usually Track 3).
9. Click ‘Extract’.
