Water and Anti Aging : Benefits of Drinking Water

Tapping the Benefits of Drinking Water

We cannot live without water, but what are the practical benefits of drinking water? What health benefits can there possibly be to drinking water? What are the anti aging benefits of drinking water? There are no essential micronutrients in the water we drink, are there? "All it does is make me have to go to the bathroom more often. And as I grow older, I don't need more trips to the bathroom!" "I'm trying to lose weight, and water just makes me seem fatter!"
Why do people encourage us to drink so many glasses of water each day? Our bodies need water to regulate body temperature and to provide the means for nutrients to travel to all our organs. Water also transports oxygen to our cells, removes waste, and protects our joints and organs.

Water and Your Cells

The 100,000,000,000,000 cells of the human body are made up of an average of 55% to 78% water, depending upon age, gender, and body size. Your cells surely need macronutrients (proteins, carbs, & fats) and micronutrients (vitamins & minerals), but they also need water too. If you don't drink an adequate amount water, your cells will suffer from dehydration. They will begin to move water from inside the cells to the bloodstream, in order to maintain blood volume and pressure.
If cell dehydration continues, these symptoms will occur: thirst, reduced sweating, reduced skin elasticity, reduced urine production, and dry mouth. Brain cell dehydration can result in confusion, or even a coma, in severe cases. The older we get, the more important it is to know the benefits of drinking water, since our thirst center does not function as well as when we were younger.

Water and Anti Aging

One of the benefits of drinking water is softer, moister skin. Loss of hydration in the skin shows in all sorts of ways - dryness, tightness, flakiness. Dry skin has less resilience and is more prone to wrinkling. Water is essential to maintain skin moisture and is the vehicle for delivering essential nutrients to the skin cells. It is important to note here, for soft, moist skin, drinking an adequate amount of water is probably more important than lotions applied topically. In other words, if your skin cells are dehydrated, they need water from the inside more than lotion from the outside. It probably goes without saying, but water is also cheaper than dermatological concoctions.
Another one of the important benefits of drinking water is the unhindered removal of wastes from the body. Not drinking sufficient water every day can result in these related conditions: constipation, acne, and repeated urinary tract infections. Urination is required for the removal of various toxins from the body. When fluid volume is diminished, the ability of the body to remove toxins through urination is also diminished. Water soluble toxins cannot be easily removed through the bowels, especially when a lack of water also causes constipation. When these toxins must then be eliminated through the skin, the increase in body toxin levels can cause headaches and fatigue. The attempt by the body to remove excess levels of unwanted chemicals through the skin can cause acne and will aggravate eczema.

How Much Water is Enough?

In order to receive the benefits of drinking water, how much should you drink? To determine how much is best for you, use one of these formulas:
body weight in pounds / 2 = number of ounces daily
body weight in kilos / 30 = number of liters daily

If you are exercising, you should drink an additional 8 oz. (.25 liter) for every 20 minutes of exercise. About 20% of the water you need will be supplied by the foods you eat. The other 80% should come from pure water and the other beverages you drink.
You cannot count the alcohol or caffeinated drinks you consume since these contain diuretics which actually "trick" your body into "thinking" they're getting water, when they're not. Avoid drinking sugar-sweetened drinks and full-strength fruit juices, since they are so high in carbs. Consider diluting fruit juices two parts water to one part juice. And if you are convinced of the positive food value of everything that is in non-caffeinated, sugar-free soft drinks, go ahead and drink them at your own risk! Obviously, water is the best choice.

Finding Sources for Water

With the popularity of bottled water, concerns about its safety, purity, and cost have been raised. Consider these findings:
    1) Dr William Shotyk, Royal Society of Chemistry's Journal: "Traces of a chemical called antimony, which is used in the making of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles, is leaching into the water within the bottle itself."
    2) Natural Resources Defense Council Report points out that as much as 40% of all bottled water comes from a city water system, just like tap water.
    3) Bottled water costs affluent countries somewhere between 240 to 10,000 times more than water taken from the tap and filtered through a coarse home-filtering system, like charcoal.
Throughout the years mankind has come up with many ways to measure things: cubits, carats, pounds, inches, liters, kilometers.
To measure the intelligence of consumers, they put water in plastic bottles, to see who would buy it.
Find a refillable, hard plastic bottle, and fill it with water filtered from your tap. Save yourself a lot of money, cut down on pollution, and give your body what it needs. As basic as the benefits of drinking water, are the benefits of exercising; start on an exercise regimen that you can make a part of your life.

 Pure, Clean Drinking Water Is...

Anti Aging Water!

Anti Aging begins with water. Water is the 3rd micro-nutrient.  Your body needs the anti aging benefits of water and lots of it.
Interestingly, although water regulates all the functions of your body, the body cannot store water.  Therefore you must drink water regularly and frequently throughout the day.
Your body is made up of approximately 75% fluids and 25% solids. Your brain is made up of 85% water.
Water is a primary nutrient for all brain functions and transmission of information. Next to oxygen, water is the most essential material for the efficient workings of your brain.
Anti Aging water plays a fundamental role in maintaining or restoring your good health.  It maintains the body in good working order and also may prevent or heal many disorders and health problems.

Take charge of your health and address your body’s most basic need--anti aging water.

How much water should I drink each day?

Take your morning weight and divide it in half.  For example if you weigh 128 pounds, then your ideal intake of water is 64 ounces per day.  If you are not normally a water drinker, you might wonder how you are ever going to drink that much water every day.
The easiest way is to gradually increase your intake each day. Begin your day by drinking anti aging water before breakfast, during your morning break, before lunch, during your afternoon break and before dinner in the evening.
Drink before you are thirsty!
Once you are a regular anti aging water drinker, every day before breakfast, drink 2 glasses of water, 8 ounces each.
Instead of having a coffee at your morning break, try an 8oz cup of hot or cold water with a slice of lemon in it.  If you prefer a sweeter taste, stir in a packet of stevia.
During the remainder of your morning, sip the equivalent of 16 ounces of
anti aging water.
Repeat this process after your lunch and before your dinner in the evening.

What are the benefits of drinking water?

The medical world has always been very conscious of the hazards of dehydration.  Now there seems to be to an increased interest in the many benefits of keeping your body hydrated.
There are many anti aging benefits to drinking water.
Weight Control

The active life we lead often contributes to failure to pay attention to the needs of our body. The thirst signal may be confused with the sensation of hunger not only increasing the risk of dehydration but also increasing the consumption of food when a glass of water is all your body really needs.

When you think you are hungry, consider the possibility that you may only be thirsty.
Anti Aging Water contributes to optimal health.
  • Makes the skin smoother, firmer and reduces the effects of aging.
  • Gives shine to your eyes.
  • Decreases hot flashes and premenstrual pain.
  • Washes out the acidity of the cell and makes the cell interior alkaline, balancing the PH level.
  • Flushes deposits of toxic sediments from your joints, kidneys, liver, brain and skin.
  • Helps reduce fatigue.
  • Helps to prevent the loss of memory as you age, reducing the occasion of many diseases that affect your memory.

Will I gain weight if I drink half my body weight in water?

To answer this question, may I take you back to Dr. Simeon’s Pounds and Inches.  The following is a direct quote from his manuscript.
"Patients are usually hard to convince that the amount of water they retain has nothing to do with the amount of water they drink.
When the body is forced to retain water, it will do this at all costs. If the fluid intake is insufficient to provide all the water required, the body withholds water from the kidneys and the urine becomes scanty and highly concentrated, imposing a certain strain on the kidneys.
If that is insufficient, excessive water will be with-drawn from the intestinal tract, with the result that the feces become hard and dry. On the other hand if a patient drinks more than his body requires, the surplus is promptly and easily eliminated.
Trying to prevent the body from retaining water by drinking less is therefore not only futile but even harmful."

Do I need water when I already drink coffee, tea, juice, sodas and may enjoy a daily cocktail?

Your body needs anti aging water; nothing can take the place of pure, clean water.
Caffeine dehydrates the body, blocks the production of melatonin, and can be toxic to brain cells. Your body uses melatonin to eliminate these free radicals.  Melatonin induces sleep.
  • A cup of coffee contains about 80 milligrams of caffeine
  • A cup of tea contains about 50 milligrams of caffeine
  • One soda contains about 50 milligrams of caffeine.
Both sodas containing caffeine and decaffeinated sodas may also contain artificial sweeteners that should be avoided.
Alcohol in beverages causes dehydration, suppresses the immune system, and produces free radicals.

The Best Anti Aging
 Tap Water is...

Pollutant Free!

Ensuring your tap water is the safest, cleanest and purest anti aging tap water is a formidable task.   Your objective is to reduce or remove as many pollutants as possible from your drinking water to obtain optimal health.
There are several factors that influence the quality of your tap water.
Do take action to ensure your are drinking the best anti aging tap water. Your actions may include research, analysis, purification and/or short term remedies

Who is responsible for the quality of drinking water?

The levels of responsibility, regulation, testing and monitoring are often unique to the product – tap water or bottled water.
Those that take part in assuring the quality and safety of your drinking water include:
  • Federal government
  • Provincial/State government
  • Local government agencies
  • Regional Water Utility
  • Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
  • Food and Drug Administration (FDA)
  • International Bottled Water Association (IBWA)
  • National Science Foundation International (NSF)
In this session of the Anti Aging Forty Plus Guide you can learn about the pros and cons of tap water.

Is tap water the best anti aging water?

Tap water is impacted by many conditions that affect its quality.
The source of your water – utility, well or private source.
Additives such as chlorine and fluoride may be found in your tap water.
Pollutants may be present in your plumbing pipes and faucets, especially
the older types.
Chemicals may leach from your water heater into your tap water.
There are thousands of organic chemicals including pesticides, herbicides and pharmaceuticals that may be in your water supply.
Water treatment plants do a good job of eliminating health threats from public water based on the government and relative agencies and regulations.
It is still a good idea to request a test report from your water utility.
For additional analysis of your drinking water you may consider a comprehensive test report from a certified, private test laboratory.
Do take the extra time and search for an automated lab as the cost of the test is considerably less than a private lab.
If your water source is a well or other system you can request a water testing kit and send it to a lab for analysis or you can order a DIY testing kit.
The information provided in these test results will assist with your decision as to what action you should take to ensure you are drinking  clean, pure anti aging tap water.

What actions are available to me?

The first step is to review your test report and determine the conditions
of your water.  Basically there are 3 choices available to you in your
quest to improve your drinking water.

1) Improve tap water with the installation of a water purifier
2) Drink bottled water
3) Detoxify your tap water with a water ionizer

What Water Purifiers are available for home use?

There are a variety of water purifier units available.  For example:
  • Filters
  • Distiller
  • Reverse Osmosis
  • Ultraviolet
Water purifiers vary significantly in quality.
Their effectiveness is dependent on your matching the purifier to the particular water conditions that appeared on your test results.
The testing for pollutants is often limited to a small percentage of the possible pollutants that may be in your drinking water.
Choose a water purifier that is designed to remove those identified pollutants. That purifier will likely remove a considerable percentage of other pollutants that may be in your tap water.
It is also a good idea to spend some time educating yourself about the pros and cons of water purifiers.
You will discover that each type of water purifier has its own characteristics that may influence your purchase decision.  Consider, for example:
  • Maintenance
  • Reliability
  • Water efficiency
Last but certainly not least let’s consider Ionized Water

What is Ionized Water?

Remember the ideal balance of food intake is 80% alkaline and 20% acidic. Ionized water contributes to this balance. The Ionized water you drink is alkaline.
One of the keys to optimum health is keeping your body properly pH balanced and alkaline.

Acidity and alkalinity are measured using the pH scale.  This is a l4 point scale, running from most acidic (o) to most alkaline (basic) (14) with neutral being 7. The further you go below 7, the more acidic your body is and the higher above 7 you measure, then you are more alkaline.
All acids are positively charged; alkaline are negatively charged. Alkaline food and drinks which are negatively charged, add their life energy into your body.
Ionized Water is electronically enhanced water created through electrolysis. It is produced by running normal tap water over negative  and positive  electrodes. This process ionizes the minerals in the water creating positive and negative ions.

What are the benefits of ionized water?

This anti aging tap water is hydrating and detoxifying. If your body is sufficiently alkalized, hydrated and detoxified it can prevent and possibly cure most diseases.
Ionized Water is considered to be a liquid antioxidant and may be one of the best substances you can put into your body. The effectiveness of antioxidants is increased when combined with other antioxidants
Ionized water, pure whole foods and antioxidant superfoods completes your optimal health food plan.

Are there things I can do to improve the quality of my tap water in the short term?

1) Water that has sat unused in the tap overnight may be heavily polluted.  Before filling your container, let the water run for 10 to 30 seconds.
2) Let the filled container stand for a few hours to give the chlorine time to evaporate.
3) Boil the tap water for 10 minutes to remove any remaining chlorine or other volatile pollutants that may still be in the water.

Status--Where you are in the program

Now you have learned that some pollutants may remain or find their way into your tap water and what you can do to improve the quality of your water to enable the flow of clean, pure anti aging tap water.
